Cleanstream Group CIC
Cleanstream Group CIC is a development company set up by Cylch to help focus some of the expertise around re-use, recycling and composting in Wales into a company that could deliver outcomes for the sector in general in Wales. It does this in two ways principally.
-
By setting up companies itself to fill gaps in provision where no existing organisation in Wales is interested and/or competent to do so.
-
By providing such support as is necessary in a commercial fashion to members and other stakeholder organisations so that their objectives are better achieved in an economic fashion.
Community Interest Companies
Community Interest Companies (CICS) are limited companies, with special additional features, created for the use of people who want to conduct a business or other activity for community benefit, and not purely for private advantage. This is achieved by a "community interest test" and "asset lock", which ensure that the CIC is established for community purposes and the assets and profits are dedicated to these purposes. Registration of a company as a CIC has to be approved by the Regulator who also has a continuing monitoring and enforcement role.

Welsh Assembly
The Welsh Assembly Government has reinforced its commitment to the social enterprise sector in The Social Enterprise Action Plan, launched February 2009.
The Action Plan builds on past successes and sets new challenges. It is clear in that it wishes to increase the number, scale, knowledge of and impact of social enterprises in Wales.
All Welsh Assembly Government departments and the wider public sector are challenged to identify opportunities for social enterprises to compete to deliver public services – and as a result deliver other benefits such as local wealth creation, reduced economic inactivity and increased community regeneration in inclusive and sustainable ways.
The Voice 10 conference is a key step in increasing awareness of social enterprise in Wales. The Welsh Assembly Government is pleased to be the principal sponsor of the VOICE 10 conference and bring it, for the first time, to Wales. This prestigious event will provide inspiration and practical solutions to many from the sector and to those who wish to learn more about the sector.
Welsh Social Enterprise Coalition (WelshSEC)
The Welsh sister company to SECUK - newly formed and resourced for the next three years by the Welsh Assembly Government in accordance with its recently published Social Enterprise Action Plan (launched at VOICE 09). The Welsh Assembly Government is showing commitment to supporting Social Enterprise development with this initiative which enables SE stakeholders in Wales to formalise and better resource the work formally carried out by SEN Cymru. Welsh SEC will represent and promote the work of the sector to government and other agencies as well as to the general public.
