Keeping in touch with consumer co-operation
The NRCC is a well-established forum for those co-operators involved in the consumer co-operative sector. Whether they are members that own the business or managers that run the business the event aims to help them understand the current issues facing the sector. The forum has successfully brought together those co-operators involved in the governance of consumer societies and those responsible for the trading success. The result is increased understanding on both sides and a determination to see the consumer sector grow and flourish.
This year’s event is taking place at Alexandra House, Swindon. The programme of speakers promises to continue the success of the weekend. The speakers this year are:
Mark Smith
Chief Executive of Southern Co-operatives will speak on "Southern Co-operatives adoption of the National Brand whilst retaining a very local and independent society."
Ed Mayo
Co-operativesUK newly appointed Secretary General will reflect on his first few months in post and plans for the first 'Co-operative Fortnight'.
Trevor Ashworth
Director of Supply Chain at the Co-operative Group will address the Conference on "The Challenges of Serving the UK's Largest Retail Estate".
Karen Froggatt
Will give an update on the work of the Cross-Society Membership Group entitled "The Membership Journey - Opportunities for a Collaborative Approach".
Dorothy Francis
Chair of Co-operative Diversity Action will introduce Sandra Kerr the National Director of Race for Opportunity.
Ian Rothwell
Development Manager, Co-operative & Community Finance will update the meeting on "The Co-operative Loan Fund"
International Co-operative Speaker
It is also hoped that a speaker from Legacoop of Italy will be able to address the Conference and highlight what has made it one of the most successful co-operative businesses in the world.
